We at the Cdn Medical Clinic hope that your posting to Europe will be a wonderful experience for both you and your family. Any foreign posting can sometimes provide some unique health care challenges but I am confident that the information within this document will give you the necessary guidance to overcome any such challenges.
The Cdn Medical Clinic is primarily a “Family Practice Clinic” that is unable to provide Emergency/Specialty Services or after-hours health care. Consequently, should you or a family member sustain an injury that you consider to be “life or limb” threatening, you are directed to proceed immediately to the nearest local Community Hospital. As a result, I would strongly encourage all families to ensure they are familiar with the location of the nearest Community Hospital within your given area.
The Cdn Medical Clinic operates on an appointment basis, augmented with a sick parade timing. As a result, you are requested to book your medical appointments by calling the Canadian Reception Desk at +49-(0) 2451-717301 between 0730-0800 hours. However, urgent matters sustained within the last 48 hours can be seen on sick parade by presenting directly to the clinic reception at 0730 hrs. We feel this process has proven to reduce waiting times and increase scheduling efficiency. The Reception Desk in consultation with Primary Care Team will triage and prioritize appointments based upon individual medical conditions. Every effort will be made to have your health services arranged ASAP and often appointments can be accommodated within 1-2 days.
All CF military members (less flyers) within the Tri-Community area must utilize our Clinic as their Primary Care Provider. Active flyers primarily go to the NATO Clinic. A Canadian medical provider can be booked weekly through the NATO clinic every Wednesday morning. Finally, I would strongly encourage that all dependants utilize the Cdn Medical Clinic as their Primary Care Provider.
Should you have any questions after reviewing this document, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Cdn Medical Clinic. The Cdn Medical Clinic staff is here to offer whatever assistance we can to ensure you and your family are provided the proper Health Care Services during your OUTCAN posting.
Best Wishes and enjoy your posting to Europe.
