Security Clearance:

DPM Secur 2, is responsible for the Department of National Defence Personnel Security Screening Program. This program consists of two areas of responsibility; Reliability Screening and Security Clearances.

Reliability Screening consists of two elements; a Basic Reliability Check and an Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC). Each provides an employer with indications of whether the person they are about to hire, can be expected to be reliable and trustworthy in the performance of their duties. From information provided by the applicant, it can be determined whether or not that person is suitable for employment and may have access to designated material.

Security Clearances are a subsequent step to Reliability Screening, and are used to determine to what degree an individual may have access to information that is classified in the national interest. Consequently, Security Clearances involve a more detailed scrutiny of an individual's background.

Reliability Screening and Security Clearances are an important element of the Departmental Security Program and are mandated by the Government Security Policy for individuals that perform duties or tasks which will give them access to designated or classified information and/or assets.

The Security Screening Program is currently undergoing modernization to streamline the screening process. In the near future, this automation will both streamline and expedite processing methods for all Unit Security Officer and security screening personnel within DND.

US Army Europe (USAREUR) Privilege & ID Cards:

This is to inform all tri-community members that they have to contact their respective OR concerning initial issuing, renewal or in case of lost/stolen of both the USAREUR/USAFE Installation Pass and USAREUR Privilege/Identification Card:

Det Brunssum’s Chief Clerk, Det GK’s Chief Clerk and 2 i/c and the CFSU(E) MP & Security Advisor for Niederheid are responsible to issue/renew all USAREUR/USAFE Installation Passes and USAREUR Privilege and Identification Cards (original issue, renewal lost or stolen). Also, all CF Members and their family posted to the tri-community have to proceed to their respective OR for in and out clearances for the above-mentioned ID Cards.

The main reason behind this procedure is for the obvious reason of the proximity of your OR.

Finally, it is suggested that you contact your OR for any questions, concerns and appointments concerning your "Schinnen cards".

We are always looking for better ways/options to serve members of the Tri-Community.
