We hope that your posting in Europe will be an unforgettable experience for you and your family. A posting abroad may sometimes slightly affect your health but we trust that the following information will offer you the necessary elements to overcome these difficulties.
The SHAPE Health Care facility and the Canadian Clinic are a family practice, which offers emergency and specialist’s services but no service after working hours. Thus, if you or a member of your family is injured or sick and requires urgent treatment, you should report to the closest local hospital. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the location of the hospital closest to your home. If you need to go to the local hospital, you have to inform the Canadian Clinic so that invoices can be paid and your file is kept up to date (this apply to the CF members only).
The SHAPE Health Center works with appointments. In order to make an appointment with a doctor at the Center please call: (0)65-445886. During working hours there is a doctor on duty for patients requiring emergency care services. To schedule an appointment with the Canadian doctor or his assistant, call the Canadian Clinic at (0)65-445959 or you may show up at the sick parade for emergency care services from 0800 to 0900 hrs, from Monday to Wednesday and on Friday morning. This process has been proven to reduce the waiting period and is most efficient. Reception desk will assess your needs and give an appointment according to priority. We will try to give you an appointment as soon as possible.
These services are also available for those of you that live in Brussels. Wednesdays are available mainly for personnel from Brussels either at SHAPE or every two weeks the M.O will see patients at the NATO Clinic.
