Flag of Belgium Welcome to Belgium

Decadent Belgian chocolates, a distinct variety of national beer and bureaucrats hailing from all parts of the world are three things Belgium is well known for, but spend some time here and you’ll soon realize it has even more to offer.

Conveniently located in the heart of Europe, Belgium is bordered by France, Luxembourg, Germany and the Netherlands. It was established in 1830 following the Belgian Revolution and now is home to 10,400,000 people speaking predominantly French, Dutch and German. The capital city is Brussels – home to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Canadian Forces members work in one of two locations when posted to Belgium – NATO Headquarters in Brussels or Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons. There are presently about 180 CF members and their families living in Belgium.
