Protocol for Remote Personnel Seeing a Civilian Dentist:
The method of treatment for remote personnel will be based on practicality and cost analysis. The following methods of treatment will be considered:
a. CF dental team may provide dental care to a region during a TD dental visit – members are requested to have any required treatment completed with the TD dentist if possible;
b. for emergency reasons only, the mbr may seek treatment at a local civilian dental clinic for resolution of the emergency; and
c. for mbrs who are unavailable for the TD dental visit;
- they must seek written approval from the detachment commander to have an annual dental exam and cleaning appointments covered by public funds; and
- any treatment plan that is more comprehensive than a single, annual cleaning appointment must be approved in writing by the detachment commander.
