Morale and Welfare Activities
CFPO 5048 7010 Casteau, Belgium
The Canadian community at SHAPE Casteau is renowned for constantly banding together to provide aid to those in need and is always enthusiastically involved in many community events. In fact, Canadians at SHAPE / Casteau are hard-working and very community-oriented people. The number of events in which we actively participate is truly remarkable, and we always seem to be doing something! We repeatedly see our entire community coming together as a wonderful, caring, can-do-anything group. Events like the Terry Fox Run, the Canadian Christmas Market, the United Way campaign and our active contribution to the SHAPE Make A Wish Foundation are just a few examples of the caring attitude that characterizes all Canadians at SHAPE / Casteau. We also promote a healthy, happy and energetic lifestyle. On the sports side, we have access to all the SHAPE facilities (gymnasiums, pools, track and field, softball fields, tennis courts, etc) and every year our community fields both a competitive hockey team and during the spring/summer seasons a Canadian softball team. Every year, CF members at SHAPE are heavily involved in several Remembrance activities that take place during the week of November 11th, commemorating the end of World War I and other battles or honouring all sorts of sacrifices made by men and women in the service of peace. Specifically, the ceremonies at St. Symphorien, Mons and Passchendaele and the many other local ceremonies held during Remembrance Week are always well attended by Canadians posted at SHAPE / Casteau.
