CFSU(E) Det Casteau is responsible for providing administrative and logistic support to all DND personnel and their dependents, located in SHAPE, Casteau, Belgium. This function is carried out in conjunction with CFSU(E) Selfkant-Kaserne in Germany.

The support unit, CFSU(E) Det Casteau, located at SHAPE, provides support to the Canadian military community and family members. There are approximately 80 CF members employed at SHAPE either in an international capacity within NATO or in a national position in the NMR’s office or at the Support Unit. The Support Unit provides various services ranging from administrative support, medical, dental, chaplain and postal services. Education is also possible within a Canadian context, as a Canadian section exists within the International School at SHAPE where six Canadian teachers abide by the Ontario curriculum to teach in a bilingual environment. In addition, the Canadian community has access to the Canadian Military Family Resource Centre, which offers a variety of programs to assist families to adapt into their new culture.
